When did you first get involved with WBSA?
I got involved with WBSA in the fall of 2013. My oldest daughter, Isabella, had just turned 4 and was playing soccer for the first time.
What does your volunteer role entail?
I co-coach the Flamingos, the U7 team Isabella is on, along with Carlos Molina. We’ve been coaching this team together for the past couple of years. I also coach the Superstars, which is the U4-U6 team that my younger daughter Paola is on.

Which sport?? I’d have to say my favorite team is the San Francisco 49ers. I’ve been a 49ers fan since the early 90s. I also root for my alma mater, the UT Longhorns when watching college ball.
What's the best book you've read recently?
With 3 kids running around, I don’t have much time to read books that aren’t bedtime stories. To be honest, the last couple of books I’ve read have had to do with coaching soccer, and although they weren’t blockbusters, they did give me some great info.
What are your 3 favorite movies or TV shows of all time?

Where are you from originally?
The Rio Grande Valley- Raymondville, Texas.
Do you have any funny nicknames?

What's your favorite restaurant in North Austin, Round Rock, or Pflugerville?
Morelia Mexican Grill is a family favorite at the Valdez house. We also like Lupe Tortilla.
What do you enjoy most about working with kids?
I like being able to teach the kids the fundamentals and basics of soccer that will help them in the long run. I also enjoy watching them develop their skills and seeing the look of accomplishment on their face when they succeed.
What are you up to when not helping the club?
I’m and outdoor person, so I like to do things like hike and work in the garden/yard. When the family is not busy with club related activities, I often light up the grill and throw on some BBQ.
